10/20-10/21 Trout Bite Continues!
I've spent the last couple afternoons on the water for short 4hr trips targeting speckled trout here in the Swansboro area. The fall migration of Trout has really picked up with the recent cold snap and extreme flood tides we experienced through last weekend and the first part of this week. With good friend and collegue, Darin C., onboard we eased out of Dudley's Marina late in the afternoon earlier this week and our first stop produced 6 really nice trout ranging from 1.75 to 3lbs. We moved on to our second stop and never had to move again. We stayed a short while and picked up 12 more specks with 10 from 1.5 to 3lbs. and only two small fish about 15in. Back at the dock at sunset after an enjoyable 3hrs of fishing! Awsome! I love the chill in the air and the thump of a speckled trout strike followed by the headshake on the surface!
Made the call to Darryl, our Producer of CFTV and got him onboard along with my good friend and highschool Buddy, Jason Guthrie. We spent about 3hrs attempting to put together a show on Swanboro Trout Fishing and provide our viewers with some timely trout info as this season begins. Well, we tryed a few spots and had a good time. We landed 12 speckled trout ranging from 1.5lbs to 3lbs and caught all fish on artificial baits! You don't need all those live shrimp..... But, I'll admit, it is addictive using a live shrimp and watching that float disappear. Keep your eye open and watch for this episode this coming Sunday if our producer is able to cut and piece in time... Otherwise it will air next Sunday. Also, in talking with Capt. Mike Taylor, he has been catching several limits of specks with each of his morning trips as well. Yesterday he had fish up to 5.5lbs here in the boro.
Call if you're interested in getting on some great Fall Speckled Trout Fishing!
