3/9/08 Citation Speck.... Trout, Flounder, Striper!

The weather put a hold on our scheduled trips this weekend so after staying indoors all day Sat... both Mike and I had cabin fever... We had a few hours to kill Sunday morning so we shot out in the cold weather early Sun. and fished until just after lunch trying to locate more trout. We started the morning slow with just 4 trout and a flounder in the first 2 hours... but, motivated by a 5lb Spec Mike had crush a Gulp bait and then walk the surface of the water thrashing his head for 8 to 10 seconds... we decided to spend a little more time looking. Easy decision, huh...We kept working and found more trout and Striper. We wound up with 11 Speckled Trout with a 5lb and 4lb and 9 more between 1.75lbs and 3lbs. along with 1 keeper flounder about 2lbs and 5 striper between 16 and 17in. Looks like it's going to be another good spring bite for trout and more in the backwaters. Call asap for open dates as they are booking fast. Capt. Jeff Cronk 336-558-5697, 252-764-2174, or Capt. Mike Taylor 252-725-2623.

PS. These fish were hungry today... almost every trout swallowed these 4in. baits!

Hey Jeff, why the switch to Ranger? I was really leaning towards buying a Triton next go round but you put way more hours in a boat than I do so what was the deciding factor? Thanks
Allen

Hello Allen, Well both are very good boats. Both are definately a good ride. Both boats have a ton of storage. They're both solid boats. The Ranger 2400 is a little faster when equipped with the same motor, has more forward and rear deck space, has an incredible hide away bench seat incorporated into the back deck that also conceals a single, easy to access compartment, that houses your main engine battery, charging system, and all 3 trolling motor batteries. The floor of the Ranger 2400 Bay, just behind the leaning post, has a cast net locker that lifts out to have instant access to every pump... this is very important if an emergency situation occurrs. Most other boats, including the Triton don't have easy access to all pumps. The livewell pumps in the Ranger are also mounted on Sea Cocks which allows you to shut down all incoming water if need be... that's not standard in the Triton or most other boats. The standard trailer on the Ranger is also 100% aluminum... no leaf springs to rust either... When you price the two boats the Ranger may be a little more expensive but if you requested all the same options (if all are even avail.) on the Triton you'de pay the same amount. Next time you're coming through Swansboro, give me or Mike a shout... come check out the boat... heck, if it's in the water we'll take it for a spin.

Thanks I need to take a look at it sometime.
