12/8/07 5.1lb Trout- 3 Limits - 50 Redfish- Black Drum!
Well, after not expecting to head out fishing this weekend due to caring for my wife and our newborn baby girl... a few events occurred Friday that allowed me to get back on the water Sat. after almost two weeks of NO FISHING.... Fortunately my Mother in law came down from Mebane to help out since my wife was still recovering from surgery and giving birth. Anyway, I had two good friends aboard on Sat. morning. Mike and Bruce came down to Swansboro to fish a few hours with me Sat. morning for trout and reds. We started out fishing the Morehead City area and finished up along the surf in Swansboro. The action on the trout was steady and Bruce landed the largest trout at 5 lbs 1oz. while Mike's largest was 4 lbs. 10oz. We put up 30 trout with a handful of small slot reds by 10am. and then moved on to locate some larger redfish. After a 30min. ride and 15 min. looking for reds.. we found a school of several thousand redfish and could pretty much sight cast to and hook up with a fish almost everycast into the school. We spent several hours landing and releasing the reds. About 40 fish later these guys arms were about to tucker out... and I had to get back to the wife and new baby... so, we headed for the dock. Great unexpected day on the water with some good friends...
