AUG. 11-12 Steady Flounder Action- Fish to 4lbs.

Sat. Aug. 11 Mike Baker and family onboard celebrating his wife's birthday with a fishing trip. We got lucky as the N. Wind that blew on Friday late afternoon/evening was strong enough to lay down some of the SW swell that built up on Thursday and Friday. We were able to get out the inlet and conditions were decent with an overcast sky and cool air. We tried our luck on some big spanish but with only one hook-up in about 45min. we decided to switch over to bottom bouncing for Flounder. We fished several areas within 4 miles of the beach and there were flounder on all of them. The bite was steady and these guys wound up boating 20 flounder with 14 keepers between 1.5 and 4lbs. We even got lucky enough to land a 7lb grouper about 2 miles off the beach while jigging a bucktail tipped with a Berkley Gulp Alive shrimp. Great job guys/gals... Congrats on your 4lb birthday flounder Mrs. Baker!
Sun. Aug 12 Sophia Devan along with her Father, Tony, and her boyfriend on this morning. We headed back out to work over the flounder again today. It was slow to start but we found some flounder about an hour into it. We fished until about 10:30 and brought 11 flounder to the net and missed another nice fish. We kept 8 good sized fish with one near 4lbs and released the smaller fish along with about a half dozen grouper just undersized. Another great morning on the water... Oh Yeah... Sophia.... try to stay off those deserted islands..... and Billy.... good job on getting your boat to the lift before it went down.... (ps. fix that pump and radio).
Sun. Aug 12 (ROUND 2) Well, back out the inlet around 1pm with good friends Dave and Chuck Krick on. We fished about 3hours and put up half a dozen flounder with the largest at 3lbs 9oz. and threw a few back. Dave, sorry that grouper was just undersize... I know it hurts to have to toss back a 5lb fish... don't worry... we'll catch'em when he gets bigger.

Also,,, thanks to those of you that let me know Roland Martin's television aired this weekend featuring Topwater Reddrum Fishing aboard Fish'n4life here in Swansboro. We filmed that last October and I wasn't sure when it would show. It'll probably show again soon.. it came on Versus (ch26) on Time Warner Cable if anyone would like to see a mess of topwater redfish explosions in our area... You might even be able to tell where we were fishing....
