8/5/07 Big Spanish and Big Grouper on Spin Tackle!

8/5/07 One of my good friends, Dave Krick, from back in the day (college) is in town from California. We loaded up the cooler and filled the livewell with pogies and fingermullet and took advantage of the calm conditions again today. We got on another school of large Spanish Macks this morning... most ranging from 2.5 to 4.5lbs and kept a mess before moving on to work some grouper on spin tackle. The only problem is the grouper were way too big to be pulling out of the bottom on 40lb braid. We boated several nice grouper with one BIG'N and then had several other break us off... killing the bite! We stopped to pick up a flounder for the plate and headed back to the dock around 2pm. Beautiful day on the water. Capt. Jeff Cronk
