3/17 Trout Fishing was HOT!
Sat. 3/17 I had the pleasure of fishing with Tony, James, and Casey today. The weather wasn't the best with morning temps in the upper 30's and the wind kicking 15 to 20+ most of the day out of the WNW... but we were determined to get out and put our best effort into it. Close to the inlet the water temps were about 54degrees.... and up the river the temps were 57+ degrees. We worked live mud minnows and Berkley Gulp baits throughout the day and found good numbers of trout. In all we wound up keeping 22 Speckled Trout, 3 Gray Trout, and a 2+lb Flounder. We released close to 100 smaller trout and 2 small flounder and kept fish from about 13in to 20in. with our largest at 2.5lbs. Capt. Mike Taylor was also out with a crew onboard today and we met up a few times on a good bite. As it often occurrs, at the end of the day Mike and his group showed up back to the dock about the same time as our group and our catch was just about identical... they also kept 22 Trout while releasing lots of small fish. Great day of fishing despite the weather.... This Spring is already proving to be another great one for Trout! Capt. Jeff Cronk- FISH'N4LIFE- 910-326-7512 EMAIL JCRONK@EC.RR.COM
