3/14/07 Citation Speckled Trout!

3/14/07 I had a friend hop onboard this afternoon for a couple of hours before sunset. We fished locally... checking out the trout bite at a few holes. We were casting small Berkley Gulp Baits. The water temps here in Swansboro are 60 degrees in the sound and 65 to 67 in the creeks. The fish are beginning to gnaw. During our 2-hr trip, We wound up landing 5 speckled trout and a 19in redfish. The largest spec was 4.05lbs for another 2007 Citation! Sweeeet. Capt. Mike Taylor fished a few days this week and is finding the same results... With catches of 10 to 20trout in 4hr to 6hr trips the Spring Trout fishing is on.... Mike had two citations this week with one just over 4lbs and one just over 5lbs. There are redfish biting inside as well as some southern flounder beginning to show. The grey trout are moving in and the bluefish should be here shortly. And, I'm sure there are some Albacore working nearshore too. Enjoy those fish Ashley! Capt.
