2/25-2/26/07 Trout and Redfish!

2/25 Capt. Mike Taylor and Ryan went out in the blow on Sunday afternoon for a while up around NewBern and found some Stripers willing to bite. they caught a few striper with the largest at 24in. He pulled up on a trout hole hoping to get a hook-up only find a 31.5in speckled trout floating with some birds pecking at it's gills. He pulled it aboard and brought it back to the dock to weigh it. This trout weighed almost 10lbs. The birds had pecked its gill rakes out. This fish had no sign of gillnet marks and probably couldn't stand the cold snap in the shallow water just two days before when temps dropped down to 29degrees.

2/26 Capt. Mike Taylor and I slid back out this afternoon to see if the big one had any siblings... We found trout almost immediately and had about 25 strikes to land 11 trout up to 2.5lbs and 5 redfish from 17 to 23in. Awsome late afternoon bite! Sorry no pics today... we got back after dark!
