12/9 6lb 13oz Citation Trout! Trout and Reds all Morning!

Sat. 12/9/06 Well, Can ya say cold! I had friends Rob and Wes onboard this morning with me as we left the dock about 6:00am with ice on the deck, skim ice in the creek, and 21degree air temps.... but we had a livewell full of speckled trout candy and were dressed for a day on the slopes. Within just a few minutes after daybreak and water temps along the beach at 53 degrees, the fish started slowly biting. We found some spiny dogfish, then some trout and reds. The bite was steady all morning as we landed 29 speckled trout and over 30 redfish. Most of the specks were between 1.5 and 1.75 lbs. We had about 8 trout over 2 lbs... Rob boated a 3.95lber, Wes put up a 3.85lber, and I lucked out to land a 6.85 lb Gator Trout! This fish measured 27.5in in length and 13.5in in girth and had already dropped her roe. She struck a 4in. Gulp Freshwater Smelt. Awsome Job on the net Rob! Everything has got to come together just right to find, entice, and land a big trout... we've been lucky aboard FISH'N4LIFE this November/December to bring several dozen citation trout to the scales thus far. Congratulations to all those anglers who managed to get that big fish to the net. There should be many more big trout as well as Striper with upcoming trips. Looking forward to fishing with those of you scheduled this month and January. Just a few open dates left for Trout/Striper/Reds in Dec. and Jan. Check the updated post below if you're interested in some serious Winter fishing and don't forget we offer GIFT CERTIFICATES which make perfect gifts for the fisherman in your family. Capt.
