April fishing report
Yellowfin are still being caught on a regular basis off Swansboro Hole area and Big Rock. The Dolphin should be showing up any time now , as long as warmer water holds near the 40 fathom line. Great catches of King Mackerel were reported around the Big Rock in 66 to 68 degree water with a couple Wahoo thrown in. I have even had reports of a couple Sailfish and Marlin.
Closer to the beach the Albacore are beginning to show in good numbers. Look for the birds working bait and get ahead of the schools. Small stingsilvers should do well imitating the small baits they are chasing.
The shallow water Artificial Reefs should be picking up. The flounder are moving in and the Bluefish can get thick over the structure.
Over the next couple of weeks the fishing should continue to improve. Bait will begin to show and warmer water water will get fish moving and eating. Work areas that you think will hold fish and move till you find them. This time of year is a hit or miss, so be prepared to pull anchor and try another spot.
