SUN. 3/12 BIG BACKWATER REDS AND CITATION TROUT!!!

3/12/06 I took the day off from chartering today as it is my wife's birthday and she wanted to spend some time in the sun.... (that's code for i'll fish, she'll lay out on the boat with her bum arm)... Talked to Capt. Mike who also took the day off and we went scouring the backwaters... Mike went a look'n for trout and I went a look'n for shallow water reds. Well, we both got lucky today. Tersia and I found several big schools of reds in 12in. of water that were very aggressive on soft plastic shrimp and jerkbaits. Capt. Mike found a school of specs in the afernoon and pulled about 35 trout up to 5lbs out on soft plastics... We met back at Dudley's for photos... check out the pics below... Wed 3/8/06 2hr afternoon trip by myself scouting for red drum... wound up in my waders casting to a big school of reds in the whitewater. Fish were hitting almost every cast using soft plastics on 3/8oz jig heads. All of them were between 24 and 28in. Caught 14 in about 20 casts. Sunday, March 05, 2006

3/5/06 2hr afternoon trip for reds with Ben Licko of Swansboro aboard. We got back out along the surf and found another school of fish, much small though..... and managed about 10 reds with the largest fish at about 28in. the water is still very muddy from the SW blow from several days ago which is severly restricting our ability to find the reds...but we managed to find some today... I left both schools biting today and was able to help put other boats in the area on the fish before I departed... ps... thanks goes out to those fisherman that saw us on these fish for not getting on top of us for the short while we were working the school... you are the ones I will gladly share info. with anytime! capt. jeff cronk... In the surf zone there is a complexity to working the boat and keeping it dry that requires fellow boaters to keep a good distance for safety reasons. Many folks disregard this when they see someone catching fish. Safety first, fish second... it's gotta be the rule. again, thank you...

3/5/06 4hr trip with Matt Ermish and his father (from Michigan) aboard... thought it was a bit chilly at 7:00am with ice on deck but these guys were ready to go at it... so, off we went to look for some of those trout and reds. 2 1/2 hrs into it and only 4 small trout we decided to change over to scouting for reds. Within 15min. of looking for reds we found a school of about 1000+ fish. We worked them for about 1/2hr to land about 15 before heading back to the dock. Awsome sight.... you could count every fish in the water! even had fish with their backs out on the beach at one point! Matt, great fishing with you guys today! Capt. Jeff Cronk- FISH'N4LIFE- 336-558-5697, 910-326-7512 or email at jcronk@ec.rr.com still some March open dates for reds/trout/albacore.
