Over 200 Redfish! Sightfishing Swansboro Redfish with Capt. Jeff Cronk - Fish'n4life Charters - Dec. 2013

New Years Sightfishing for Redfish!

We've been having some very good trips lately sightfishing for Redfish but today was absolutely Amazing.... I had Dr. Knox and his crew onboard and we had some great fishing conditions!  Temps started out almost 50 degrees and the wind started out at 5mph from the W and dropped out to slick calm conditions by mid morning.  We fished three different locations over a 10 mile area and found two very good schools of Reds.  One school was in 3ft of water and we were easily able to see them pushing headwater.  We tracked them for a little while and hooked up 6 reds from 4lbs to 6lbs.  On the second location we found over 200 reds ranging from 16in to 26in tailing in 12in. of water along a mud flat.  We cornered the fish and were able to catch and release over 30 fish from this school in an hour.  We were fishing my absolute favorite baits... Berkley's 3 and 4in. Gulp shrimp and smelt minnows.  Every other cast resulted in that 15lb Spiderwire Invisibraid screaming off those Penn Spinfisher and Conquer Reels!  Combine that incredible action with absolute calm, gin clear water... sunny skies... and 60 degree weather... and you have the recipe for an amazing day on the water!  Thanks David, John, Ashley, and Bruce for stepping onboard today... you all did a great job hooking and fighting those purty fish!
